Melt


I love seasons. There is just nothing more revitalizing than just the hint of newness. With seasons, you get that amazing transformation 4 times a year. I love it in February / March when you can just start to feel the thawing in your bones. I used to drive down Shaker Rd in Canterbury NH and smell the sweet smoke of sugar burning off the maple houses that were tucked back into snow covered birch woods. Of course, we all love the spring to summer transition of May when skies get warmer and shorts get shorter. Autumn brings the cool winds and sunny afternoons of football and sweaters. And well winter.... its peaceful respite of snow and hibernation.

Yesterday was that glorious first taste of thaw. The melt took me unknowingly, I didn't know it was forecast. Liberation! We took the girls for a walk and remembered with longing last summer and anticipation of next.

There is so much power in transformation.

Weight loss this week: 1 lb
Total loss to dtae: 70 lbs

Lessons learned this week. No matter how much you work out (6 out of 7 days for example), you just can't eat Melting Pot, copious amounts of alcohol, lobster bisque, red velvet cake and Glass Nickel pizza and lose a lot of weight. Frankly, I am lucky to be down at all this morning. If I had conjured the willpower to say no to the pizza last night, I may have had a better morning- I just didn't say no... but life goes on. Isn't that just a wee bit reassuring? The guilt melts away... the weight melts away... this melting thing really is great.
