Sudafed and Vino


This was a rough week. I was out of commission with a nasty cold from Sunday thru Wednesday. Not only could I not breathe, but excercising was certainly not happening. It was the longest period of time that I didn't excercise in the past 6 months. I felt like a slug. Thursday I resigned to excercising no matter what and over the weekend, I got back on the bandwagon.

What is the saying? Feed a cold? I was so hungry this week and sadly, I did give in. Taking bites of this that and the other (pizza, pancakes, chocolates). I am commited to getting back on the straight and narrow this week:

Weight loss this week: .5 lb
Total loss to date: 72.5 lbs

On Wednesday, I drugged up on Sudafed and drove out to Milwaukee to catch up with with college buddy and sorority sister, Tink. Over a bottle of vino, we recounted life's goings ons. I love it when time melts away and you talk like you never missed a beat. It was a wonderful walk down memory lane. Lets not wait another 10 years to do it again.

Those Sz. 14 jeans? Oh yeah. I got 'em. And other miscellaneous tops from Banana Republic.... oh yeah, can shop there now too! Later Lane Bryant.

Down not out!

The little green mucus monsters have taken up residence in my sinuses and are staging a warefare against the females of the household. For once, my husband seems to be faring well, although he certainly paid his dues over 2 months of constant colds this winter. Not sure why this particular cold is kicking my butt. The decongestants are sucking the life out of my face like a vacuum, and well... not feeling so fabulous this morning. So much for President's Day shopping.

Weight loss this week: 2 lbs
Total weight loss to date: 72 lbs

Earlier this week, I was celebrating another milestone: Sz 14 Jeans. I didn't buy them, but I did admire my tushie in the dressing room mirror. The fun is in the trying..

Melt


I love seasons. There is just nothing more revitalizing than just the hint of newness. With seasons, you get that amazing transformation 4 times a year. I love it in February / March when you can just start to feel the thawing in your bones. I used to drive down Shaker Rd in Canterbury NH and smell the sweet smoke of sugar burning off the maple houses that were tucked back into snow covered birch woods. Of course, we all love the spring to summer transition of May when skies get warmer and shorts get shorter. Autumn brings the cool winds and sunny afternoons of football and sweaters. And well winter.... its peaceful respite of snow and hibernation.

Yesterday was that glorious first taste of thaw. The melt took me unknowingly, I didn't know it was forecast. Liberation! We took the girls for a walk and remembered with longing last summer and anticipation of next.

There is so much power in transformation.

Weight loss this week: 1 lb
Total loss to dtae: 70 lbs

Lessons learned this week. No matter how much you work out (6 out of 7 days for example), you just can't eat Melting Pot, copious amounts of alcohol, lobster bisque, red velvet cake and Glass Nickel pizza and lose a lot of weight. Frankly, I am lucky to be down at all this morning. If I had conjured the willpower to say no to the pizza last night, I may have had a better morning- I just didn't say no... but life goes on. Isn't that just a wee bit reassuring? The guilt melts away... the weight melts away... this melting thing really is great.

The Dog Days are Over!


I listened to my anthem song this morning and so inspired about getting to my 100lbs goal! The dog days are over people! Whoo Hoo!

Weight loss this week: 2.5lbs
Total loss to date: 69 lbs
Pounds to go til next goal achieved = 6 lbs

I am feeling very encouraged, despite my self declared - "pig out" last night during the Super Bowl. I was ok until I went in for seconds on pizza (huge craving since I started this diet!) and then chips, and cookies, and wine... oh, the vino! How I love thee... but how you cloud my willpower and judgment...

Oh, wait. I was feeling good about my weight loss..

A bit sad, cause frankly, I had been down at the magic 70lbs threshold for a while this week, and I can almost smell the 75lb goal around the corner...

I also took another go at this bod with my tape measure. In order to see the changes in other ways, I can make my first report on the the changing body:

Body changes since January 12, 2011:

Waist = -1 inch
Hips = - 2 inches (this is my biggest challenge area)
Chest = - 2 inches
Thigh = - 1 inch
Calf = no change
Bicep = + inch (thank you cardio boxing)

Thank you again to my wise friends who said I would need to new way to see my body changes. You were sooooooooo right. It really helps to know that even though the pounds are slowing down, the changes are still taking place.
